The primary goals of the Compass Institute website optimisation were to improve user engagement, increase phone call enquiries for trainee registration, and boost donations. Additionally, a secondary goal was to ensure the website ranked highly on Google, with ongoing SEO efforts aimed at achieving a first-page ranking.
The design process began with a comprehensive workshop involving David, the founder of Compass Institute. This session provided deep insights into the numerous programmes and activities Compass offers, emphasising their profound impact on the trainees and the community. The key insights from this workshop guided the human-centred design approach we employed.
We focused on creating an intuitive navigation system and a visually appealing style that would guide users through the website. Our design aimed to create an emotional connection with the ethos and heart of Compass, while also facilitating easy access to information about their programmes and services. This was achieved by:
Throughout the process, we adhered to our foundational human-centred design principles, ensuring the needs and experiences of the users were at the forefront of every decision.
Although the new website has only been live for a week, initial traffic data indicates an increase in session duration, suggesting that users are more engaged with the content. We are closely monitoring key metrics such as phone call enquiries, trainee registrations, and donations to measure the full impact of the redesign.
One of the most significant learnings from this project is the unique and meaningful impact that organisations like Compass have in the NDIS sector. Despite the challenges in funding and support, their ethos and approach clearly stand out. This project reinforced the importance of delivering beyond the initial scope to truly support such impactful organisations.
